Identifying Characteristics
- Red Flour Beetles are elongated bugs, 3-4 millimeters in length
- They are most often found in and around stored food areas
- They are generally red-brown in color
- They do have functional wings but will rarely fly
- The Red Flour Beetles antenna ends in a 3-segmented club vs. the Confused Flour Beetle whose antenna-end gradually widens
- Unlike the Confused Flour Beetle their thorax is slightly curved
Active Season
- Red Flour Beetles are found indoors making them active year-round
Interesting Facts
- In preferred conditions, 5 generations can be produced in 1 year
