Identifying Characteristics
- Chipmunks are small brown ground dwelling squirrels and are generally 5-6 inches in length from nose to tail and weigh 2-4 ounces
- They have two pale and five dark gray to black longitudinal stripes on their back

- Active season is in late Summer

- Unlikely to sting unless handled (though sting can be painful)
- Each cell/burrow will hold only one egg, laid on paralyzed insects which will be used for food
