Identifying Characteristics
- Powderpost beetles are mainly identified by the damage they cause such as small holes in wood or powdery shavings/frass under infested posts
- Adults are generally brown or black and vary from 3/32 to ¼ inches long
Active Season
- Adults do very little damage; the larva actually does the feeding on the wood
- Most of their life is spent in wood and they emerge only as an adult to mate
