Identifying Characteristics
- Mud Daubers are generally black or shimmering blue with yellow found mostly in their legs and wings
- They are easily distinguished by their long stem between thorax and abdomen
- They are generally found frequenting mud puddles
- Their nests are mud cells built on the sides of houses or in attics

- Mud Daubers active season is during the Spring and Summer
Interesting Facts
- Mud Daubers generally prey on spiders (top predator of black widows)
- Although they appear quite dangerous these wasps will very rarely sting
Cause for Concern
- Mud Daubers nests/cells can go unkept and can cause an infestation of dermestid beetles sometimes causing an infestation in the home
- Their cells, being made of mud, may cause unsightly damage to the exterior of homes/buildings
