Identifying Characteristics
- Maggots are small worm-like creatures measuring up to ¾ inches in length
- They can be many colors from white to brown, but are generally found with a pearly white coloring
- Most often they are found in masses near decomposing mammals or organic material
Active Season
- Maggots do not have a particular active season, but are generally dormant through the Winter
Interesting Facts
- Maggots are actually a general term for insect larvae but when a “maggot infestation” is seen it is generally associated with a fly infestation
- Undeveloped maggots can move and eat
